Ellen Court, Littlebourne

Ellen Court, Littlebourne

Originally built in 1972, the original Ellen Court had fallen into a state of disrepair, requiring major refurbishment and maintenance. After completion of a feasibility study, it was decided that demolition and a new build scheme was required. This culminated in the construction of 16 new self-contained properties in a mix of bungalows and flats.

The properties have been designed to achieve a minimum of Level 4 under the Code for Sustainable Homes (CfSH), incorporating features such as: photovoltaic panels; underfloor heating; and triple-glazed windows. During the construction phase, June 2011 to May 2012, both residents and staff were re-housed. On completion of the project, they were able to “come back home”.

Ellen Court’s Scheme Manager has said of the project, “I am delighted to be able to return to Ellen Court as the Scheme Manager after two years…The modern buildings and grounds are excellent and the new tenants are all very happy with their new surroundings”.

Our commission by Canterbury City Council to undertake the role of Cost Consultant, allowed us to support the project and ensure that it was completed in budget.
